Restoration of the Walking Track

In December 2020, AEFI was successful in securing $290,000 from the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program to restore the 1.2 km  Sanctuary walking track, which was destroyed in the 2019/2020 bushfires.

The new track will be partly wheel-chair accessible and self-guided. It will start at the newly build Cultural and Visitors Centre and it will take visitors through the Sanctuary to view the various endangered species in their enclosures and natural habitats. Interpretive signs will be installed along the track to educate visitors about the site.

Project Progress:

Landscaping and ground-levelling works of the bush-fire damaged track have commenced in August.
